Visa has enabled its contactless payment option to six new NFC-enabled smartphones produced by Samsung, LG and Research in Motion. The Galaxy S II, LG Optimus NET NFC, BlackBerry Bold 9900, Bold 9700, Curve 9360, and Curve 9380 are now available to take advantage of the mobile app by Visa, two of which were enabled in October 2011. This will encroach on Google Wallet’s territory, as the payment service is still only available on a select few phones.
“This is an important step for Visa, its financial institution partners and the mobile industry,” said Bill Gajda, Global Head of Mobile Product, Visa Inc.
All new devices host the Visa app on a secure SIM, along with the NFC technology.
