Mastercard and Intel to offer PC payments

The two giants of payments networks and computer technology have paired up to provide consumers a means to pay online, but with a twist. All the user has to do is swipe their credit card with the NFC-enabled Intel Ultrabooks. This makes the payment much more secure than existing online payment methods. The new technology should be available in Q2, though as Gordon Dolfie, the marketing director of Intel mentioned, Mastercard is currently working with online merchants to allow consumers access to the technology, and so a release date has not been announced.

Intel’s Ultrabooks were shown at CES 2012, and features anti theft and indentity protection technology. With MasterCard’s 32 million merchant clientele, there is a huge potential if they sign on to the new partnership.
