Moneto announces first batch of compatible Android devices for its mobile wallet

Compatible with Android

Moneto’s NFC mobile wallet is now compatible with the following six Samsung Galaxy S devices: i9000, Vibrant, Fascinate, Mesmerize, Showcase, 4G and Epic 4G. Being already compatible with the iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS and 3G, it is now supported by at least two popular smartphones across the four major US wireless carriers: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. The Moneto wallet was first launched earlier this year at CES as the first NFC-enabled mobile wallet supporting both iPhone and Android platforms. The wallet uses Device Fidelity’s secure In2Pay microSD and provides a reloadable, prepaid NFC-enabled mobile account with 1GB of storage. With regards to security, the PIN is stored on the secure chip inside the microSD and the Moneto application has to be purposefully launched and PIN entered in order to activate payment. If a user wants to upgrade or change phone they can remove the microSD and transfer it over to the new device. A user’s account credentials are stored on the microSD, enabling payment regardless of phone signal. The service offers a locator for NFC-enabled stores and will soon support card to card transfers and cash back offers.

Each kit comes with a Moneto microSD, an NFC antenna sticker applicator, a prepaid magnetic strip plastic card for use at ATMs and $10 preloaded on the account. The wallet is available online at a cost of $29.95.

Youri Bebic, Device Fidelity’s general manager for Moneto programmes says “this line of Android phones is only the first of many to come. With more models slated for release in the coming months…”
