Pingit hits 120,000 downloads in first five days

Rapid Adoption

Some 120,000 smartphone users downloaded Barclays’ new mobile payment app, Pingit, in the first five days after its launch. The bank is bullish about continued take-up of the app, as the firm prepares to roll out the app to users of other UK banks. However, Barclays isn’t revealing a breakdown of the downloads between the three platforms available, Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android and Research In Motion’s BlackBerry. Pingit allows customers to send up to £300 per day by entering the receiver’s phone number, or selecting a contact from their smartphone address books.
