Gemalto is expanding its NFC applications portfolio by incorporating FeliCa software technology in its UpTeq NFC SIM product line up this year (view press release). The incorporated solution is designed to provide mobile operators and service providers a more comprehensive range of NFC services worldwide. Gemalto claims the addition of FeliCa software makes its UpTeq NFC SIM the secure element that supports the widest range of applications in the world.

Gemalto’s Asia president Tan Teck-Lee says the company’s “UpTeq NFC SIM is set to trigger the mass deployment of mobile NFC services now, while providing operators the flexibility to expand their offer in the longer term.” The UpTeq NFC SIM allows the installation of additional applications from different service providers over time.
