Google denies forcing developers to use Google Wallet

Under pressure

Google is denying that it has put pressure on developers to use its Google Wallet service to power in-app purchases in its digital store, Play Store, rather than third-party services such as PayPal. This follows claims from developers, including Papaya Mobile, that Google threatened to remove them from the Play Store if they did not adopt Google Wallet as long ago as last August, according to Reuters. The search giant reportedly told blog The Verge that it has not altered its policies and the reports are unfounded. The news comes as Google attempts to gain a foothold in the mobile payments space, pitching its Google Wallet against more established rivals such as PayPal and Square.
