Groupon buys merchants’ transaction processing marketplace FeeFighters

Extra tools to merchants

Groupon has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire reverse auction marketplace FeeFighters. Chicago-based FeeFighters allows small business owners to select a merchant for credit card processing, and provides its own payment gateway. Groupon may use these capabilities to offer extra tools to merchants, who have complained in the past about lack of support from the daily deals giant.

A FeeFighters blog post reads: “Most of the FeeFighters are coming along with the acquisition and we are not planning any major changes to our product line.” It says that the company will continue “to help small businesses run more efficiently” as part of Groupon. No further information about the deal is being given.
