Through the partnership Ukash, a global eMoney network, will become available to Magento’s e-tailers, offering consumers an alternative payment method (view press release). Ukash enables coins and banknotes to be converted into a 19 digit Ukash code which can then be used to pay for goods and services on websites that accept Ukash, or loaded onto a prepaid card or e-wallet. Users can exchange ‘cash for code’ in 17 currencies, at around 42,000 points of sale in 57 countries around the world. The service enables people to make cash payments online without having to share their card details, and enables them to manage spending as each voucher code is for a fixed, prepaid amount.
“Consumers around the world who prefer to use cash, and retailers who recognise the growing popularity of alternative payment methods on the web, have already found Ukash to be a perfect solution for shopping online,” said Ukash chief executive David Hunter. “We’re excited about reaching more retailers and consumers by integrating with one of the world’s most popular online shopping carts.”
The Ukash Magento plug-in is available as a free download from the Magento Connect Marketplace and directly via Ukash.
