As a result, Citizens Bank and Charter One customers can now make external account to account online transfers and online P2P Popmoney payments, and mobile banking is now available to Android users as well as iOS (view press release). The P2P Popmoney payment service enables account holders to transfer money quickly with a mobile number or email address.

According to RBS Citizens Financial Group, customers accessed Citizens Bank and Charter One apps for iPhone more than 12 million times last year. The Group expects to see significant additional usage by releasing the app for Android as almost half of US mobile subscribers now use Android phones. The app offers the ability to make payments, check balance, view account history and find the nearest branch or ATM. New features include expedited transfers and the ability to view check images, save multiple user IDs and make external account–to-account transfers.
