Identive Group, a provider of products and services for the identification, security and RFID industries, is launching tomPAY, an alternative radio frequency identification (RFID) peel & stick tag (view press release). The solution enables payment card manufacturers to provide contactless payment capabilities using consumers’ existing mobile phones. tomPAY is being showcased at the NFC Solutions Summit on May 22-24 in Burlingame, California. Based on the company’s patent-pending tom (tag on metal) smart inlay technology, the new solution has a peel and stick form that enables it to be created using the same processes as an ISO PVC card, and then popped out of the card and attached to a mobile device. tomPAY enables contactless mobile payments in compliance with MasterCard’s PayPass specifications and can be deployed for loyalty or other schemes. It can also be adapted to support EMV-compliant (SDA/DDA) chips, helping card issuers and manufactures provide customers with an EMV-enabled tap-and-go solution.
“Over the next few years there is a significant opportunity for payment solutions that bridge existing phones with the coming wave of NFC-enabled devices, and with a strong portfolio of NFC offerings, Identive is positioned to address the market at every point along the way,” explains Dr. Manfred Mueller, COO of Identification Products for Identive.
