GlobalCollect extends partnership with Newzoo

Fresh data on emerging and western markets for 2012

GlobalCollect, a local e-payment service provider, is extending its partnership with games research firm Newzoo to gather fresh gaming data on emerging and western markets for 2012 (view press release). Continuing from the two parties’ 2011 relationship, GlobalCollect will again sponsor Newzoo’s consumer research suite, publish joint insights and organise webinars based on the hottest topics in the games industry. By combining GlobalCollect’s payment processing and monetization expertise with Newzoo’s consumer insights, the partnership’s main objective is to increase transparency of emerging markets.

As the pace of change accelerates, game companies must move towards new platforms, payment options and regions to maintain growth,” said GlobalCollect VP Global Marketing, John Snoek. “As a trusted payment service provider and advisor, GlobalCollect is investing heavily in data analysis and business intelligence.”

The joint ventures’ first round of research profiled game preferences and spending behaviour of 30 million active internet users in Turkey and 18 million in Poland. Findings from the survey found that, of the active internet users, 65% in Poland and 72% in Turkey play video games. Within these percentiles, 78% of 22 million Turkish gamers play games on social networks, 17.2 million people; 47% of 12 million Polish gamers play MMO games, 5.5 million people; more than 25% of Turkish social network gamers has spent money on these games; and 1.9 million Polish gamers spend money in free-to-play MMO games.
