boxPAY, a mobile payment provider for e-tailers and game developers, is debuting its new Smart TV mobile payment service at the upcoming E3 in June (view press release). The company’s Smart TV billing solution enables users to buy Smart TV apps, or make in-app payments, and charge them to their mobile phone account. No registration or credit card details are required. boxPAY’s SDK enables TV manufacturers and Smart TV app developers to integrate the payment option and take payments from customers who don’t have a credit card or are not willing to go through a registration process.

Smart TV apps are becoming hugely popular,” said boxPAY co-founder Iain McConnon. “boxPAY makes it easy for TV manufacturers and TV app developers to generate better response rates with an in-app mobile payment option that enables instant buying.”

Market Intelligence firm In-Stat claims that 100 million households will use hybrid (Smart TV and internet) services by 2016.
