DealCollector has bought rival deals site Coupobox for a sum which former CEO Stavros Prodromou claims is in the lower six figures. DealCollector will not take on the firm's staff as part of the deal. Prodromou claims that his decision to sell the firm was motivated in part by the fact that the online deal market in the UK is oversaturated, making it difficult to compete. The former CEO also says that he also wants to be able to devote all of his time to his position as CEO of the Global Daily Deal Organisation, a group which campaigns for better standards within the deals industry. DealCollector, based in Germany, sees the acquisition as a means of furthering its plans for expansion across the UK and Europe.
