Chirpify launches Twitter Fundraising for Politicians platform

Contribute to political campaigns with a tweet

Chirpify, the Twitter commerce platform, is launching the Twitter Fundraising for Politicians platform allowing donors to contribute to political campaigns with a tweet (view press release). The commitment of 25 US Senate and House candidates to use the platform for their 2012 political campaigns has been secured through a partnership with Twitter politics digital agency Digital Acumen.

Twitter fundraising for political campaigns works with the politician or their staff tweeting a request for a donation from their Chirpify dashboard. Donors give by replying with the word 'donate'. Chirpify then processes the transaction and sends the donor and politician a receipt via email and direct message. Alongside the fundraising platform, Chirpify is also releasing a ‘Tweet a Presidential Candidate’ website which will enable donors to give and track donations to the Obama and Romney campaigns with a tweet.

“There are hundreds of millions of dollars being raised for US political campaigns every year, and an estimated 140 million Twitter users,” said Chirpify CEO and founder Chris Teso. “Yet until now there was no way to directly exchange currency on Twitter. It is a no brainer to introduce Twitter Fundraising for Politicians.”
