Vinci Park, a French parking services company, has concluded a partnership agreement with PayByPhone to facilitate payment of on-street parking using NFC technology, a new development in France (view press release). The solution will be applied to 5,500 parking spaces in Greater Paris West (GPSO) in Issy-les-Moulineaux. These parking metres will be equipped with NFC tags which motorists tap with their NFC-enabled mobile phone. The motorist is then identified and the PayByPhone app opens automatically with the corresponding rate zone allowing the reader to select the parking time they wish to pay for. The application also allows the user to add time without returning to the metre.
The solution will soon be extended to other cities of the Hauts-de-Seine and throughout France.
