NatWest to trial contactless NFC payment solution

Four month trial

NatWest bank is set to begin a four month trial of its contactless payments solution, TouchPay, allowing users to make purchases of £20 or less from their current account with an iPhone 4 or 4s. As part of the trial, NatWest plans to send around 1000 customers a free iCarte case, which is attached to the iPhone and communicates via NFC between the device and Visa PayWave terminals. The case operates alongside the NatWest TouchPay app to make payments. Users will be able to see TouchPay transaction history instantly through the app.

NatWest intends to roll out the solution to other smartphones in the future.
