Needle, a Salt Lake-City based social commerce platform, has raised USD10.5 million in a Series B funding led by Shasta Ventures and Rembrandt Venture Partners. Prior to this, Needle raised a Series A round of USD2 million. The new funding will be used to accelerate growth of its social selling platform and expand its pool of brand experts and fans for its shoppers.
Founded in 2011, the startup makes shopping more social by providing online retailers with a service that connects shoppers to experts and brand evangelists via chat, video or voice. “Companies that continue to use antiquated text-based chat to provide customer experience are going to fall far behind in the ecommerce world,” says Morgan Lynch, founder and CEO of Needle. “Shasta and Rembrandt recognise the disruptive role Needle is playing in the e-commerce world and we’re looking forward to working with them as we fix real-time shopping interactions online and disrupt the USD100 billion global contact centre space.”
