Ybuy scores USD1 million for try-before-you-buy service

Scaling its product and expanding its user base

Ybuy has raised USD1 million in Series A backing from Google chairman Eric Schmidt’s Tomorrow Ventures, with participation from angel investors for a service allowing consumers to test goods before they pay for them. The US company runs a subscription service that lets users test electronics goods and other products for USD24.95 per month. They then have a 30-day window in which they can choose to keep or return the goods, with their subscription payment subtracted from the purchase value. The company says that it is using the funding to scale its product and expand its user base.
