ATM provider, Diebold, is joining GlobalPlatform, an organisation which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology, as its latest Observer Member (view press release). Through the membership, Diebold will take an interest in the activities of GlobalPlatform Advisory Council and the Mobile Task Force, with a particular focus on advances in mobile financial services.

“Diebold's GlobalPlatform membership is an important investment. It will allow Diebold to observe the direction of specifications so that we are able to better advise our customers on migration paths for the future,” said Mark Reinart, Diebold manager of software and services product management. “We will use our involvement in GlobalPlatform to proactively plan for technology changes that might impact automated teller machines (ATMs). This will enable us to advance our solutions services around technological improvements.”
