Apigee buys mobile payment technology

Mobile payment-related technology

Apigee, a firm that manages API technology, is buying a tranche of mobile payment-related technology from Wholesale Applications Community (WAC). The deal centres on a technology used by operators such as AT&T and Deutsche Telekom to let their customers pay for in-app goods and purchases as part of their monthly telephone bill. Apigee, which is not disclosing how much it paid for the technology, has managed the API since it launched. Carrier billing is becoming increasingly popular as operators, developers and publishers attempt to boost revenues from mobile apps and services.
