Merchandising company, Kmart, is launching its new Halogen Reloadable Prepaid MasterCard, offered by prepaid card issuer, Green Dot (view press release). Kmart claims it is among the first retailers in the US to launch a reloadable prepaid card product piloting no initial charge to load funds and access to around 20,000 MoneyPass Network ATMs for free withdrawals. Cardholders will be able to get cash at ATMS, pay bills and shop in-store and online including on Kmart’s website and anywhere Debit MasterCard is accepted. To use the card, users do not need a bank account or credit check and there is no minimum balance requirement. In addition there is the ability to sign up to direct deposit wages, tax refunds or government benefits at no cost. Cardholders can load additional funds into their account with cash at Kmart stores or by purchasing a Green Dot MoneyPak at Green Dot retailer locations across the US.
