Authentication solution

Austria’s VKB-Bank has selected Gemalto’s Ezio Edge Optic authentication solution to secure its eBanking services (view press release). Gemalto’s Ezio Edge Optic smart card reader does not require any software installation and reads directly onto the user’s personal computer screen, tablet or mobile phone. The device is mobile and works by reading securely encoded transaction data needed for verification and transaction signature generation that are displayed on the screen. Once verified, users can perform online transactions such as money transfer and payments. The solution is compliant with the latest banking standards in Austria and leverages the security of smart debit cards to authorise eBanking transactions. The smart card reader is currently available to all VKB customers at branch offices.
