Mellon Technologies collaborates with Eurobank for contactless card initiative

Contactless EMV project in Greece

IT integrator, Mellon Technologies, is collaborating with Athens-headquartered EuroBank to implement what it calls the first ‘large-scale’ contactless EMV project in Greece, reports Finextra.  The first contactless credit cards are available to Eurobank customers, which will enable purchases of up to EUR25 without the need to enter a PIN or sign a payment slip. For larger transaction amounts, the cardholder will need to either enter a PIN or sign the slip. The card, based on dual interface technology, incorporates a magnetic stripe and an embedded chip so that it can be used on standard card acceptance devices, such as eftPoS terminals and ATMs.
