Collaborating with EZ-Link, MasterCard and DBS

StarHub is launching its NFC app, the ‘SmartWallet’ digital wallet service, in collaboration with DBS, EZ-Link and MasterCard (view press release). The app will enable its customers to use the following three contactless payment cards on an NFC enabled smartphone - DBS One.Tap, NFC ez-link purse and NFC FEVO Pre-paid MasterCard.

SmartWallet will offer users a virtual DBS MasterCard PayPass card called One.Tap which will allow them to pay for goods and services at around 20,000 DBS and MasterCard PayPass merchant partners in Singapore with one tap of their smartphone. Existing DBS members can apply for the card through DBS internet or mobile banking. Users can also make retail payments with an NFC ez-link purse wherever EZ-Link cards are accepted, and at MasterCard merchant locations for NFC FEVO Pre-paid MasterCard issued by EZ-Link. While making a purchase, users can redeem coupons from partner merchants such as Comfort Taxi, G2000, Pasta Mania, Watsons Convenience Stores, FOX Apparels, Pumpkin Patch, Toys R Us, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Quiznos, Coldstone Creamery and Shaw Theatres.

Additional payment functionalities will soon include applying for, storing and managing cards from payment schemes from the smartphone, and new lifestyle services which will enable users to buy and download electronic tickets to events, to earn and redeem loyalty points, top up StarHub Mobile pre-paid cards and pay for public transport services. In addition, StarHub will offer a way to collect StarHub Music Store goodies at launch. By tapping their NFC enabled smartphone on StarHub’s Smart Posters at StarHub Shops and roadshows, they can collect a free mystery track.

SmartWallet and its contactless payment and lifestyle services will be launched later this month. To use the app customers will need to convert to a StarHub NFC SIM card and subscribe for the StarHub NFC value-added service for free, and will then be able to download the app.
