Parking payments via the mobile phone

California-based Douglas Parking is partnering with QuickPay, a payment platform provider, to deploy new payment options and value-added services such as premium parking spaces and loyalty programmes to access its parking locations (view press release). The deal means that Douglas customers will be able to pay for parking via their mobile phones using the QP QuickPay smartphone app, which is available on iPhone and Android devices and by SMS text or voice. As a QuickPay customer, Douglas Parking has been involved in piloting new features and providing feedback to aid product development. One such method involved Douglas Parking reserving parking spaces in select lots for patrons that pay with QP QuickPay. There are plans to launch a loyalty programme enabled by the QP QuickPay system in the near future.
