Game developer, Big Fish, is collaborating with UK-based social gambling company Betable, in a deal that will see real-money gambling come to Apple’s App Store for the first time. Big Fish is launching Big Fish Casino as an app for the iPhone, run by social betting firm Betable, which will let customers place bets on slot machine games. The firm says that it will expand its offering to include poker, roulette and blackjack. Big Fish Casino is a rebranded version of Card Ace: Casino, which Big Fish bought from Self Aware Studios.
The deal follows the announcement that Gamesys, will became the first real-money gambling app to launch on Facebook last week. For now, real-money gambling apps remain banned in the US, although games developers such as Zynga are pushing the US government to relax the law.
