iZettle launches on Android in Sweden

Android-enabled in Sweden

iZettle, the social payment company that provides merchants with an app and mini chip-card reader, is launching its service for Android users in Sweden (view press release). iZettle’s Android app will allow users to take credit and debit card payments on the go, with or without the mini chip-card reader. For the service merchants pay the 2.75% charge for MasterCard, Visa and Diners Club card and 3.75% for American Express. The chip-card readers can be brought from Telia stores across Sweden or via iZettle’s online site.

The Android version has similar features as the iZettle iOS version for iPhone. One key difference, however, is that the Android version plugs into the device’s audio jack. The new service will be compatible with the Samsung Galaxy SII, S II LTE, S III, and the Galaxy, while the app can be downloaded from Samsung Apps. There are plans to make iZettle compatible with additional Android devices in the near future.
