Orange and Barclaycard to launch Quick Tap-enabled Samsung Android phone

Telecommunications company, Orange, is partnering with global payment business, Barclaycard, to launch an Android smartphone, which will be compatible with the Quick Tap contactless payments service (view press release). From the 5th of September, new or upgrading Orange Samsung Galaxy SIII customers with a UK MasterCard or Visa card will be able to use Quick Tap, enabling them to make mobile contactless payments of up to GBP20.

Customers must download the Quick Tap app which allows them to access information such as account balances and purchase history. Access to the app and money transfers is PIN protected and customer can choose to use a PIN when making payments in store.

Orange Samsung Galaxy SIII users who download between 5th September and 5th October 2012 will also receive GBP50 free to spend using their phone.
