Fiserv inks AT&T deal for walk-in bill payments

Financial services technology solutions provider, Fiserv, has been selected by telecoms giant AT&T to provide it wiith walk-in bill payment services (view press release). AT&T will utilise Fiserv’s CheckFreePay solution, expanding the walk-in bill payment capabilities for Wireline customers. The deal means that customers in around 22 states will have walk-in bill payment capabilities for their Wireline phone bills. AT&T also renewed the contract for its Long Distance, Mobility and U-verse customers, allowing customers to pay their bills through walk-in bill payment locations.

The companies aim to assist the estimated 25% of US households which are unbanked or underbanked, of which nearly 77% pay at least one monthly bill in person. AT&T customers will now have the option to pay their Wireline, Long Distance, Mobility and U-verse bills in person using cash, cheques or money orders at any local CheckFreePay agent. Payment transactions made at a walk-in bill payment location are processed to AT&T via the electronic payment network provided by Fiserv, and payments are credited to the customer's account in real time, with a receipt provided as proof of payment.
