America’s PNC Bank is offering Visa’s digital wallet service to its online banking customers (view press release). V.me by Visa will be made available to around 1.2million PNC virtual wallet customer accounts, making the bank the first in the US to integrate with Visa’s wallet service. Customers will also be able to enroll their other US issued payment cards through the V.me site and make online purchases at participating merchants, without the need to enter card account numbers or bill-to and ship-to information.

There are plans to roll out the wallet, which is also being tuned to support Near Field Communication using Visa PayWave on the high street, to more US banks in the near future promises Visa. The card scheme's initial list of card issuers included Barclaycard, BB&T, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotiabank and US Bank.
