German technology provider Giesecke and Devrient (G&D) is set to increase its presence in the area of smartcard personalisation (view press release).

Following recent announcements that it is to open a personalisation centre in Jakarta, Sri Lanka, and an expansion of its base in Ohio, in the USA, G&D have announced plans to further expand into the Indian and Canadian markets.

The expansion is mainly driven by the growth in EMV chip-based payment cards which are set to replace traditional magnetic stripe payment cards.
