Vietnam is preparing for a mobile banking push as Singapore’s Tagit launches Vietnam’s first ever mobile banking services in partnership with Smartlink, offering mobile services to over 40 million bank card users.
First to roll out the service will be Vietcombank, allowing customers to download an iOS, Android, BlackBerry or Java app that can be used for account information queries, fund transfers, bill payments and mobile top-ups.
Through the Tagit system, Smartlink customers will also be able to connect with third parties such as utility companies and government agencies.
Nguyen Dang Hung, deputy CEO, business development, Smartlink, says: “More Vietnamese consumers are adopting the mobile lifestyle, so we’re putting mobile at the core of our strategy to ensure that we keep pace with what customers want.”
