Toulouse-based startup BuyBox has picked up USD2.3m in funding from French VCs Iris Capital and Midi Capital (reports StrategyEye). It offers a group payment function for online merchants. The company has a predominantly French client base for its SaaS service, including Celio, Wonderbox.fr and Micromania.
Established in 2010, Buybox’s group payment tool has been created by holding company Oonetic. It allows merchants to offer ‘social payment services’ on their site. Through this feature customers make transactions for gift cards and travel costs as a group. Buybox will use the investment to develop its products and expand into new territories.
