Luxembourg-based provider of hub-based mobile communication services, MACH, has been selected by Skype to provide a new mobile payment option. Skype Credit will be initiated in Russia using MACH’s direct operating billing service with the US and Canada to follow. MACH’s Direct Billing Gateway provides an operator billing service for mobile applications.
The new payment option allows Skype users to purchase Skype Credit through a browser-based transaction via mobile phone. The transaction can be paid for as part of the user’s monthly phone bill or a pre-paid mobile carrier account balance. The rollout of this billing initiative in additional countries will continue throughout 2013.
