MasterCard launches QkR payment app in Australia

Following a recent successful pilot, MasterCard has announced it will be launching its official QkR payment app in Australian schools.

The mobile payment app in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank will allow parents to pay for school meals, contribute to fundraising initiatives as well as purchase school uniforms and other items via their mobile device or tablet.

One of the first schools’s to join the pilot, Mentone Primary’s Principal Marcelle Van Maanen, said: “QkR is one of those things that, once you’ve tried it, you realise you just can’t live without it. The customisation and reporting features are easy to use, but it’s also meant that parents aren’t coming into school to pay for things all the time – we’ve actually got our foyer back.”

Victorian Minister for Education, Martin Dixon said: “Schools don’t exist in isolation, in fact they are a significant part of the broader community, projects like these are a fantastic example of the work that can be achieved to the benefit of not only school children, but also their parents, the teachers and administration staff, as well as the businesses involved.”
