airberlin chooses Adyen as global payment partner

Adyen has announced that airberlin has chosen Adyen as its payment partner to roll out Single Euro Payments Area Direct Debits (SEPA DD) and to process all card payments.

airberlin needed a solution to allow its customers to pay worldwide with their preferred payment method and local currency and Adyen’s platform does just that. Adyen’s playform is highly scalable, offers access to over 250 payment methods and 187 currencies which will enable airberlin to deliver its customers across the SEPA region a consistent user experience when paying with the new SEPA direct debit scheme.

“We knew we could count on Adyen’s global experience and local expertise to ensure our smooth launch of SEPA direct debits, which is a significant milestone for us,” said Friedrich Floto, Senior Vice President Finance Administration at airberlin. “The online experience of making purchases is among the most essential interactions our customers have with our brand and it was crucial to get the SEPA integration right first time.”

“The SEPA initiative highlights the need for merchants to partner with a payment partner that continues to innovate and develops its technology to stay ahead of market demands and keep pace with business needs,” said Roelant Prins, CCO of Adyen. “ Adyen has forged a strong reputation for providing a consistently high quality payment solution worldwide and across multiple sales channels, and the SEPA implementation for airberlin further proves our ability to deliver solutions responding to the fast evolving market requirements.
