In partnership with BIO-key, NCR Corporation has announced it has expanded the use of BIO-key integrated fingerprint authentication solution.
NCR will expand deployment through several national retail chains, providing secure and efficient employee access to tens of thousands of POS terminals.
“The longstanding relationship with NCR reinforces several elements of BIO-key’s reputation in the market, as well as continues to generate significant revenue for the Company,” stated Jim Sullivan, VP of Strategy & Business Development, BIO-key. “The expanded utilization demonstrates that BIO-key fingerprint authentication outperforms traditional authentication methods in real-world visible applications; nothing is more mission-critical to a retailer’s revenue than the POS. Additionally, sophisticated buyers of biometric technology clearly recognize the benefit of investing in our reliable, high quality and interoperable fingerprint solutions. Our advanced and visionary approach to sensor independent fingerprint technology allowed NCR and its customers to evolve through three different fingerprint scanner suppliers since our relationship began. BIO-key technology makes the identity and authentication life-cycle easier and less expensive to manage; we expect to deliver continued success and to receive additional orders over time.”
It seems laptops are about to catch the biometric fever as PayPal, Intel, Lenovo and Synaptics are collaborating to introduce FIDO-enabled embedded fingerprint solution to PCs.
