Martin Knott returns to RBS as head of trade, global transactions

The Royal Bank of Scotland has re-hired Martin Knott as head of trade in its global transaction services division.

Knott will return to RBS in December, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was Head of Trade for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He previously worked at RBS as transaction services head for Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.

Knott will report to Carole Berndt, head of GTS.

“I am delighted that Martin is joining our team,” Berndt said.  “His experience will further the value we bring to our clients and is part of our ongoing commitment to our trade business.”

“The mandate given to me to lead this global team is a huge privilege,” Knott added. “RBS’s trade business houses a wealth of talent in its people, capabilities, technology and international reach. I look forward to leading that team, to best meet the needs of our UK and global, FI and corporate clients, whether through our traditional trade finance facilities or our structured trade products.”

Knott began his career at Barclays, and has also spent six years at ABN AMRO before that, holding various senior roles including Head of Transaction Banking, Russia.
