Apple is rumoured to have set the date for Apple Pay’s Canada launch as it prepares to expand the service internationally.

According to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is in negotiations with Canadian partners over a launch scheduled for early 2015. Sources close to the deals claim that the partners are in are in the process of planning advertising and other promotional material for March, possibly for a late spring release.

Of course, these are still active discussions and it’s possible the talks could fail to result in a launch by March,” the report added. “Several sources, however, tell us Apple is currently targeting that timeframe.”

Apple first leaked its international expansion plans last month in a job listing seeking individuals to help roll out the service throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. While US cards loaded onto Apple Pay do work abroad at supported NFC terminals, Apple has only official launched the service in the US.

Apple is also expected to launch the Apple Watch in early 2015 in the US, but could hasted its international release to match the debut of Apple Pay worldwide.
