Spotify teams up with paysafecard

Spotify users can now pay for the music streaming service’s premium package though paysafecard.

This is the first prepaid payment provider that Spotify has teamed up with, allowing users of the music streaming service who upgrade from Spotify Free to a Spotify Premium account without the need for a bank account, credit or debit card.

The partnership allows both companies to extend their customer base. By offering paysafecard, Spotify can attract new target groups and increase the number of premium memberships as paysafecard is particularly popular with consumers who are reluctant to use their credit card online.

The new service is available in 27 countries across Europe as well as in Mexico, USA, Canada, Turkey, and Australia. Plans to introduce the payment option in further countries are already in place.

Vienna-based paysafecard is part of the Skrill Group, and offers a prepaid card that can be topped up in cash and used for online purchases.
