Charity installs contactless donation points in shop windows

Cancer Research UK has introduced a new payment feature to its charity shops: contactless point-of-sale technology that allows people to donate by touching their card at the window.

The technology, which was created in partnership with the outdoor media company Clear Channel, allows passers-by to donate £2 by touching their card at readers.

These will be installed in the windows of Cancer Research branches in two London locations, Kensington and Marylebone, as well as Guildford and Brighton. While not a permanent fixture, the contactless window displays will be present from the 30th of January until the 13th of February.

Clear Channel’s head of create Neil Chapman said: “this collaboration is a great example of how we can leverage both existing and emerging technology along with consumer behaviour to deliver an innovative new way for Cancer Research UK to raise funding.

“This contactless window display is an important step towards offering brands a contactless payment solution away from their point of sale.”
