Ingenico acquires ROAM m-commerce platform

French point-of-sale group Ingenico now owns 100 per cent of ROAM and its m-commerce platform.

ROAM’s existing secure mobile card readers, mobile Point-of-Sale (mPOS) applications and  mobile payments engine will remain the same, and keep the same names, but the company will be absorbed into the Ingenico Mobile Solutions brand, headquartered in Boston.

“ROAM is a key part of the Ingenico Group worldwide portfolio as mobile commerce growth surges,” said Jacques Guérin, executive vice president of Smart terminals and Mobile solutions at  Ingenico Group. “With 100 per cent of ROAM, we will accelerate the deployment of a global and integrated mobile offer, enabling merchants to increasingly engage with their customers. This is a great opportunity to take Ingenico Mobile Solutions through its next phase of growth.”

Ingenico Group has strengthened Ingenico Mobile Solutions’ management team with the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer, David Szczepanski, to manage the deployment of a global and integrated offer.

In the US market, ROAM’s sales team has been integrated within Ingenico Group North America to provide both retailers and merchant acquirers with seamless payment solutions whatever the channel: in store or mobile.

Ingenico Group has also teamed up with Beamm, Inc., makers of intelligent cloud-connected POS and commerce technology for small businesses, to create a new multi-channel commerce solution for small business owners. Called the smart tabletPOS and available immediately, it combines powerful tablet POS software integrated with cloud-based tools to help merchants ring up sales, manage their business, engage customers and drive revenue.
