Paypal and Shell have teamed up to roll out mobile payments to petrol pumps across the UK from April, which will offer motorists “security, choice and convenience.”
When filling up their cars at any of Shell’s 1,000 UK petrol stations, drivers will be able to pay directly on their smartphone using either the Shell motorist app or the PayPal app.
PayPal UK mobile commerce director Rob Harper said: “At PayPal, we’ve always believed people will use their mobile phones to pay if there’s a clear benefit. With today’s announcement, we’re offering drivers a faster way to fill up their car and pay, and get back on the road.”
