Starbucks reveals coffee delivery plans

Starbucks is teaming up with San Francisco-based delivery startup Postmates to test out a coffee delivery service in the second half of this year.

Another initiative will see the coffee giant’s employees in certain office buildings – starting with the Empire State Building in New York – carry orders to customers on other floors who order online. Starbucks will call this service ‘Green Apron’ delivery, WSJ reported, because of the colour of the aprons the company’s baristas wear.

Starbucks will charge a flat fee for delivery services – but has yet to announce what that fee might be.

The coffee company hinted at delivery plans in October.

Last year, Starbucks also started testing a service that allows customers to order and pay for beverages in advance before collecting them in its Portland stores.
