Contactless payment acceptance provider Mobeewave has partnered with Trustonic to create top level security features for contactless transactions.
Trustonic, which specialises in trusted execution environments (TEEs) for smartphones, has developed mobile point of sale (mPOS) technology which no longer requires the use of an add-on.
Merchants can now download the Mobewee mPOS app into their merchant mobile devices which support Trustonic technology. The Trustonic TEE technology secures the interaction with the cardholder on the merchant’s device itself by using the company’s Trusted User Interface. Customers can then use their contactless devices and cards to make a transaction securely.
This collaboration will cater for both ends of the retailer spectrum. Larger retailers can use this technology to provide a better user experience for the customer, whereas smaller independent merchants can now afford to have a more secure payment method, the company says.
‘‘The continuing trend for contactless payments changing the way we buy and sell has resulted in a need for more trust in our mobile devices. Mobeewave’s mPOS platform combined with Trustonic TEE provides an enhanced, safer and more streamlined digital experience for all parties,’’ said Oliver leger, executive vice-president of Trustonic.
