With China continuing their self-imposed ban on Google, Android Wear is rendered completely useless. Baidu has come to the rescue and has announced that it is creating a brand new smartwatch.
Baidu, China’s largest search engine company have let slip that they are working on a new smartwatch and that it will be released to the public in June.
According to Tech in Asia, Kaiser Kuo, Baidu’s director of internal communications has revealed that a ‘‘major manufacturer’’ is making a smartwatch that will be integrated with DuWear, Baidu’s smartwatch technology.
One of the major features of the upcoming Baidu smartwatch is voice-activated mobile payment technology. Using Baidu Wallet, you can command the watch to make a payment by saying ‘‘I’d like to make a payment.’’
Baidu’s smartwatch technology is already very common in China. Later this month, Du Wear will be installed into the Moto 360 and the Sony Smartwatch 3.
