Bookatable.co.uk introduces ‘pay at the table’ function

Bookatable.co.uk has introduced a ‘pay-at-table’ function to its restaurant booking app, making it the first company in the UK to do so.

PayPal and MyCheck collaborated with Bookatable.co.uk in developing the mobile payments function which will allow customers to pay and split a bill using PayPal functionality or using a card registered with MyCheck.

Bookatable.co.uk has partnered with 12,000 restaurants and has over 2 million bookings per month; by the end of June, over 200 restaurants are set to sign up for the new ‘pay-at-table’ function.

Chief executive of Bookatable.co.uk, Joe Steele said: “Pay-at-table technology has already brought about a fundamental change in customer behaviour within the restaurant space.”

Being able to pay through a mobile device at the table not only increases loyalty and customer engagement, it also boosts revenues through capitalising on an increased number of table covers and allows restaurants to spend more time on customer service.”

Rob Harper, director of mobile commerce at PayPal UK added: “Customers love being able to pay the bill at their table without having to attract the waiter’s attraction and wait for a card machine.

Why wait for the bill when you can pay at the table on your smartphone?” he asked.
