PayPal’s ‘One Touch for Web’ app arrives in the UK

PayPal has announced that its ‘One Touch for Web’ online payment application has expanded to the UK and Canada, following a successful launch in the US.

The service, which allows customers to checkout online using a single touch, was piloted as a smartphone widget and became web-based after a year.

Customers that sign up to the new payments method will be able to use a single login for the thousands of websites supported by PayPal and pay in ‘One Touch’ which PayPal says will enable “seamless and secure shopping.”

Merchants like Airbnb, Boxed, Jane.com, Lyft, Munchery, YPlan have used the app and this has led to an immediate increase in sales, average order values, customer adoption and loyalty, and companies have found a lower abandonment rate of baskets due to the swifter pay option.

Bill Ready, SVP and global head of merchants and next-gen commerce at PayPal says: “Enabling global commerce experiences that connect consumers and merchants in a seamless, secure way across devices, platforms and channels is at the core of everything we do.

We will continue to introduce these consumer experiences to more countries this summer.”
