MasterCard strikes a deal with Burger King

This summer, Burger King will integrate MasterCard’s digital wallet MasterPass, which will allow Burger King customers to pay for their food on their smartphones.

Customers will be able to store their card details on the app and make one-step checkouts when buying food.

Quick service restaurants are focused on providing quality food as conveniently as possible. With MasterPass, consumers can go online, place their order and pay with just one click—the hassle of entering delivery and billing information is eliminated, meaning less time they’ll be waiting for their meal,” said Michael Cyr, group executive, U.S. Market Development, MasterCard.

In order to use MasterPass, users will have to set up a MasterPass account either on its website or by signing up with a participating bank such as Citibank.

September will also see Firehouse Subs, another American restaurant chain, integrate the MasterPass solution.

“Firehouse Subs is excited to harness this new mobile payment technology on FirehouseSubs.com. By moving in this direction, Firehouse Subs is able to simplify the checkout process and provide our guests a simple, convenient and secure way to place online orders,” said Vince Burchianti, Chief Financial Officer, Firehouse of America, LLC.
