Virtual Piggy expands into mobile P2P payments

Virtual Piggy, a mobile wallet developer, has released an iOS update to its family payment application, enabling additional money transfer capabilities using peer-to-peer (P2P) technology.

In 2014, the California-based company developed Oink, a secure online and in-store youth wallet that enables parents to deposit money into a digital family account.

The Oink 2.0 ‘‘Neon’’ application update comes with a number of additional features, including Touch ID authentication, as well as the application being made available on the Apple Watch.

To combat security concerns, the Neon update enables parents to have increased transparency and control over the depositing and withdrawal of funds within the Oink application.

‘‘The Neon release of our app presents a number of exciting new features including Touch ID authentication and an enhanced notifications engine,’’ commented Dr. Jo Webber, CEO and founder of Virtual Piggy.

‘‘By adhering to U.S. COPPA laws we are delivering the appropriate controls and safeguards to allow Oink money transfers to be used by all members of the family.’’
